July SAM Luncheon

We were truly blessed during our July SAM luncheon. Not only was there the usual good food, but we were treated to wonderful music.  Payton Sowers, Doris Watson’s grandson, is a talented musician. He plays thirteen different instruments and sings as well. During our luncheon he played the harmonica and piano at the same time. The music was beautiful and thrilled our souls. He later played the accordian and intrument a lot of us seniors grew up listening to, but had not heard in many years. Thank you Payton, for blessing us with your talent. May God continue to use you.

After the music, our Youth Pastor, Ryan Sawyer encouraged us as seniors. His topic was, “Three Reasons not to lose heart” (2 Corinthians 4:1-18)

First, as seniors, we carry the gospel of Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:5)

Secondly, senior’s are inportant to God. (2 Corinthians 4:7-9; Jerimiah 29:11 KJV; Isaiah 71:8-9) Ryan’s imphasis was on Jerimiah 29:11 in the King James Version. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. While this is a well known verse, it is important to note that in the KJV the translation reads of the thoughts God thinks toward us. He is thinking of us as seniors. Amen! Thank you Ryan for encouraging words!

Thirdly, seniors impact the younger generations (2 Corinthians 4:15; Psalm 71:8) Amen!

We had a small turnout this month. For those of you who were not here, we really missed you!
